Education & Workforce Development

Chair: Ronald Ravelo

The Education & Workforce Development Committee will enhance the technical capabilities of the association in support of local DOD organizations. The intent is to work with all levels of academia to promote education and workforce development in the DOD community from entry level to professional accreditation. It is responsible for generating student interest, funding various educational initiatives and creating outreach to regional academia. The committee will promote and administer the association’s summer internship program, promote initiatives for workforce development, and also maintain awareness and complement/support other initiatives that are being undertaken by other organizations. The committee will be responsible for the execution of educational and workforce development initiatives on behalf of the association.

 

Events & Engagements

Chairs: Committee & Summit: Peter Woodhull, SBIOI: Camila Anderson
Summit: Gary Jaffe, SBIOI: Pete Van de Meulebroecke and Chris Cannavaro

The Events & Engagements Committee will plan, organize and execute all facets of CDCA sponsored events such as the quarterly SBIOIs and the annual Eastern Defense Summit.

 

Finance, Budgeting, Accounting

Chair: Matthew King
Co-Chair:  Jared Mathey

The CDCA Finance Committee encompasses all fiduciary responsibilities to provide and maintain the financial stability of the association. This includes ensuring that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place while remaining compliant with relevant tax and government requirements and regulations. The Finance Committee maintains records of all CDCA bank accounts and maintains sufficient reserve funding to provide essential core services, monitoring and managing cash flow – including routing accounts payable/accounts receivable activities, planning short- and long-term budgets, and organizing two financial audits each calendar year.

 
 

Government Advocacy & Strategy

The Government Advocacy and Strategy Committee plans and implements strategies to increase participation, recognition, and communication with various federal agencies, offices, Congressional and Executive staff to promote the interests of CDCA, its members, and the Greater Charleston Regional economic development.

 

Membership & Partnerships

Chair: Bambi Hoyt
Co-Chair: Gabriel Bell

The Membership & Partnerships Committee promotes and encourages membership CDCA. The committee will work to retain our current membership base and recruit new memberships. The committee will collaborate with the other committees to assess and make recommendations on programs or services that will add value to the membership. The committee will also collaborate on new and innovative ways to improve the membership of the association. The committee will monitor all aspects of membership, including dues, membership structure, eligibility criteria, changes to membership categories, retention, bringing in new members and ensuring that the member’s experience meets everyone’s expectations. The committee will provide opportunities to engage at CDCA Summit, SBIOIs and other industry events to help facilitate engagements and information sharing between large businesses, small businesses, and Government stakeholders who may be interested in partnering on Federal opportunities.

 

Nominating

The principal functions of the Nominating Committee shall be to identify, contact, and encourage potential candidates to apply for leadership positions within the CDCA.

 

Operations

Chair: Peter Van Meulebroecke
Co-Chair: Chris Cannavaro (IT), CIC Rep: Peter Woodhull and Sallie Sweeney

The CDCA Operations Committee oversees the organization’s general operating business practices and agreements. The committee is chaired by the CDCA secretary, with specific focus areas including contracts industry council, staff and policy, and information technology.

The chair is the primary interface to the CDCA’s legal counsel and insurance agents, and also oversees staffing of CDCA employees, e.g., brand evangelist, administrative assistant, and financial assistant. Other responsibilities include coordinating processes of other committees, including turnover, maintaining and overseeing CDCA by-laws and standard operations guide, ensuring the CDCA charter is up to date, maintaining any new operational documents as they develop, and overseeing CDCA BOD elections.

 

Public Relations

Chair: Maura Keenan
Co-Chair:  Sallie Sweeney

The Public Relations Committee will present the mission, vision and values of the association to the public. It will provide all official media contacts, speaking engagements, press releases, public affairs issues and other related contacts with the media on behalf of, or in representation of, the association. It will develop all forward facing materials for the association. The vice president will hold the office of public relations committee chair.
