Board Member Expectations & Application

1. Support the CDCA’s vision, mission, and goals and abide by its policies.

2. Ensure you have enough time to serve on the board, anticipate a minimum of 10 hours per month. You are expected to chair and/or co-chair at least one committee and represent the CDCA at industry events and community affairs.

3. Actively support the Annual CDCA Defense Summit in the planning stages and on-site by overseeing an aspect of the Summit and assisting in other areas as needed.

4. Be committed to serving a three (3) year term, with eligibility for re-election once for a total of six (6) years.

5. Must commit to participate in a minimum of nine (9) monthly CDCA Board Meetings per year and be available for in-person meetings with Federal, State and Local government and community stakeholders as necessary .

6. Actively prepare for and contribute to discussions in board and committee meetings. Be responsive to requests for information and votes.

7. Display courteous conduct in all board and committee meetings. This includes respecting the opinions of your peers, contributing to board discussions in an unbiased manner, and supporting all board actions and decisions.

8. Share your networks and open doors, helping to identify and recruit new members and volunteers and to solicit sponsors for CDCA events.

9. Bring energy and enthusiasm to achieve association goals and be willing to personally take on actions and tasks.

10. Maintain confidentiality of the board’s executive sessions and speak for the association only when authorized to do so.

11. Communicate professionally and represent CDCA to external stakeholders, including government officials, the media and others in the defense community.

12. Maintain appropriate duty of loyalty and avoid conflicts of interest while serving as a board director by not concurrently serving on boards of similar industry associations or as an elected official.

13. Never accept (or offer) favors or gifts from (or to) anyone who does business with the CDCA.

CDCA needs and welcomes the enthusiastic participation of its members on the Board of Directors and is seeking candidates who want to help drive our 2030 Strategic Plan, which focuses on four key priorities:

This election cycle will select 5 board members for a 3-year term. Candidates seeking nomination by the Nominating Committee must engage with the Nominating Committee  NLT 31 Oct 2025.  All candidates, including those seeking self-nomnination from the floor must submit their application  NLT 14 Nov 2025.
